Airfare discounts, tour deals at MATTA Fair Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Visitors to the Penang MATTA fair this weekend can look forward to price discounts on local and international destinations offered by national carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS), the official airline for the event.

The fair will be held at Straits Quay from 10am to 9pm beginning tomorrow until Sunday. Admission is free.

Penang MATTA president Dato Hamzah Rahmat said air fare discounts of about 40% will be offered to London, Sydney, Perth, Denpasar, Jakarta, Phnom Penh, Tokyo, Incheon, Guangzhou, Dhaka and Colombo.

There will also special fares to destinations such as Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Frankfurt and Fukuoka through MAS partners. Hamzah said the special deals are expected to be a crowd-puller for the fair, that aims to achieve sales of RM20 million and attract 20,000 visitors.

The inaugural participation by the Indonesian Tourism Ministry at the fair this year will showcase Phinisi Ship as its focus of interest, featuring 10 priority destinations in Indonesia, especially Lake Toba, Borobudur and Mandalika.

Other packages include deals to Europe starting at RM10,088 while newlyweds can purchase special "Lombok Honeymoon Tours" at RM1,899 per couple or the "Bali Honeymoon Tour " at RM1,499 per couple.
