KUALA LUMPUR: With lots of affordable tour packages and attractive prizes on offer, the first instalment of this year's largest consumer travel fair is something not to be missed.

Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) president Datuk Tan Kok Liang said the fair which commenced today is the largest ever travel fair ever held since its inception 27-years ago.

"Matta Fair March 2018, which is in its 45th edition, sees the largest number of booths over its 27-year history with 1,353 exhibition booths occupying seven exhibition halls in Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

"Apart from that, the Umrah Pavilion will also be the largest ever since its commencement in Matta Fair September 2015 as there will be 41 companies offering various Umrah and Hajj packages to interested Muslims visitors," Tan said during a pre-event press conference for the travel fair yesterday.

Tan added that with each minimum purchase of RM300 on an international travel package or RM100 on a domestic package will entitle the lucky visitors to be in the running for some attractive prizes for the Matta Fair Buyers' contest.

"Among the prizes for the domestic buyer's contest includes travel vouchers worth up to RM9,000, roundtrip air tickets to domestic holiday destinations, 21 hotel and resort vouchers, theme park entrance tickets and KTMB train tickets.

"The prizes for the international buyer's contest is even more attractive as it includes a return business class air ticket from Kuala Lumpur to London, one business class air ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Narita as well as some other 23 return air tickets to international destinations," Tan revealed.

As a means to reduce the number of cars at PWTC and to ensure convenient and hassle-free journey for those patronizing the three days fair, Matta Fair have partnered with e-hailing service provider Grab where the latter is offering discounted rides of RM4 for two rides to/from Matta Fair.

"Visitors can use the promocode of GRABMATTA18 to enjoy the discounted ride and it is limited to the first 3,500 rides each day.

"It would be the most practical mode of transport to avoid traffic congestion and the inability to find parking spaces," Tan said.

He added that Matta Fair visitors can also enjoy shopping privileges when they flash their Matta Fair wristband at selected outlets at Sunway Putra Mall.

Matta Fair is open from 10am to 9pm, admission is RM4 per person and free for children below the aged of 12.
