Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has announced both holiday resorts as “Malaysia’s Favourite Theme Parks” for MATTA Fair March 2018.
Desaru Coast in Johor, a premium 1,578ha integrated destination resort along a 17km pristine beachfront, is scheduled to open end of June.
Anchored by Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark, it spans 8.5ha, set against the backdrop of a Malaysian fishing village.
“It is the largest water park in Malaysia and one of the biggest in the world.
“Visitors can plunge into the largest wave pool in South-East Asia and experience the water coaster in the region.
“With five ‘splash-tacular’ zones to explore, the water park features a unique mix of over 20 wet and dry rides, slides and attractions,” said Integrated Theme Parks and Attractions chief executive officer Philip Whittaker.
Visitors to MATTA Fair will get to enjoy attractive promotions such as two adult tickets that come with one free child ticket, or an exclusive buy-three-free-one annual pass deal for Johoreans.
Also, those who purchase tickets will each receive a voucher that gives a 10% discount on food and beverages, and there are lucky draw prizes to be won too.
Next to the water park is the Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast for holidaymakers to experience rock star treatment and enjoy its signature programmes.
This includes the Rock Star Memorabilia Collection tour, Hard Rock live band entertainment and the Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club.
Visitors will receive an additional RM50 voucher with every purchase of a RM300 cash voucher, which can be used to redeem hotel accommodation or operating services.
Desaru Coast is also home to two world-class golf courses, conference centre, a retail village and other globally renowned hotels and resorts.
Meanwhile, just 30 minutes’ drive away, Legoland offers more than 70 hands-on rides, slides and attractions throughout the year.
This includes Lego Star Wars activities such as the gigantic Death Star Big Build, Millennium Falcon Speed Build and Star Wars Imperial Parade as well as Halloween Brick-or-Treats.
Among its MATTA Fair 2018 March edition promo deals is the Awesome Annual Pass at RM199, the price of a one-day theme park ticket, for an all-year-round access.
Passholders stand to win a brand new Nissan Almera with the purchase of an Annual Pass.
Other deals include up to 45% discount on super-value day tickets while stocks lasts, family packages at Legoland Hotel as well as online deals via its website for those who cannot go to the fair.
Legoland Malaysia Resort sales and marketing director Thila Munusamy shared about the world’s first Lego Virtual Reality (VR) Roller Coaster – The Great Lego Race.
“Opened last November, we’ve fitted cutting-edge virtual reality technology with roller coaster thrills.
“The Sea Life aquarium is also coming to Legoland end of the year. It is our commitment to ensure every visit is a new and refreshing experience,” she said.
Visitors can find Desaru Coast and Legoland in Hall 5.
MATTA chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng said they were happy to work with both holiday destinations as it was one of their ways to promote domestic tourism.
“I believe these two products will push domestic travel to a higher level,” he said.
The three-day event will see a total of 1,352 booths from more than 172 tourism companies offering holiday packages to an estimated total of over 105,000 visitors.
MATTA Fair will be held at Putra World Trade Centre from March 16 to 18, from 10am to 9pm. Admission is RM4 per person per day and free for children aged below 12
