Vibrant Cultural Shows Await MATTA Fair Visitors

KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors to the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair are in for a cultural treat with performances from Malaysian states and foreign countries.

MATTA president Datuk Tan Kok Liang said visitors will get to see performances by the Bung Bratak Cultural Group from Sarawak and Indonesia cultural dances, among others, during the three-day fair which starts today.

“Taiwan is also bringing a cheerleading team to perform daily,” said Tan, adding that there will also be quizzes and talks.

“There will be plenty of local and foreign holiday package choices for visitors,” he said.

While travellers can opt to purchase packages and tickets online, Tan said, the MATTA Fair continued to appeal to the public and draw huge crowds.

“When you buy at the fair, you are talking to real people instead of a faceless machine,” he said.

Another advantage of talking to travel and tour agents in person is that they can tailor-make holiday packages to suit travellers, he said.

Those buying packages during the three-day fair will also be able to enter the buyers’ contest.

Prizes include round trip economy class tickets to Amsterdam and Paris courtesy of Emirates, round trip economy class tickets to Jakarta courtesy of Air France-KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) and Garuda Indonesia, as well as a two-day, one-night stay at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral.

The buyers’ contest, he added, will be divided into domestic and international categories.

Tan said he expects about 110,000 visitors to the fair and advised the public to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion.

The MATTA Fair September 2017 will be held at Putra World Trade Centre until Sunday. It is open to the public from 10am to 9pm.

Admission is RM4 per person per day and free for children below 12.
