MELAKA: The popular Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair returns after a year, and will be held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh here from Aug 18 to 20.

MATTA chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng said the fair would have various offers to meet the travel needs of all Malaysians including Muslims.

“Some bumiputera travel agents will participate in the upcoming fair for the first time. They will provide tour packages for Muslims, including the umrah packages,” he said after the balloting session for exhibitors at the MITC.

He expressed confidence that the fair would be another successful event.

MATTA secretary-general Nigel Wong said a total of 98 booths had been taken up by exhibitors so far.

He said more value-for-money domestic and international tour packages would be offered by licensed travel agents during the three-day travel fair.

“Taiwan Tourism is also promoting tour packages at the fair, including Muslim-friendly packages,” he said.

Wong said MATTA Fair Melaka 2017 was expected to attract more than 27 million visitors from Negri Sembilan, Melaka and the north of Johor, with sales expected to reach RM18 million.

He said the fair would be held at Hall A, MITC from 10am to 9pm daily. Admission is free.
