No flight cancellation to Bangkok: MAS

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no flight cancellation to Bangkok due to the bomb blast near Erawan temple in the Thai capital's Ratchaprasong District on Monday evening.

Malaysia Airlines senior manager for regional sales Kathleen Leong said the blast did not affect flight operations at the KL International Airport.

"However, we are still waiting for travel advisory from the Foreign Ministry relating to the incident.

"We cannot speculate anything from the incident. MAS still runs business as usual," she told a press conference at Wisma Matta (Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents) here today.

In Monday's bomb explosion, four Malaysians were among 20 people killed.

Yesterday, Permanent Secretary of the Thai Foreign Ministry Narachit Sighasenee said that Bangkok was still safe for tourists who are there or planning to come to the city.

Meanwhile, Matta chief executive officer Phua Tai Heng said travellers have the chance to book for holidays to popular domestic and international destinations at the Matta Fair 2015 Fair.

The three-day fair, starting on Sept 4 at the Putra World Trade Centre here, would feature 1,233 booths, he said.

"MAS will be the official airline for the Matta Fair. The national carrier will offer discounted fares to many destinations," he added. – Bernama
